| Some facts about the Airport Of Mauritius Located in the southeast of the island, the facility, formerly known as Plaisance Airport, was initially built for military purposes during the Second World War by the British. Commercial activities started in 1946. In order to accommodate constant civil traffic growth, a new terminal, not too far from the old building, was commissioned in 1987 under the name of Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport.
